Gurney Drive
Gurney Drive (Malay: Persiaran Gurney) is a popular seafront promenade within George Town, Penang Malaysia that is popular among tourists who want to immerse in the city’s culture, go on shopping spree, experience a culinary adventure, and visit remarkable landmarks. Gurney Drive has become part of George Town’s second Central Business District due to the skyscrapers and shopping malls like Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon Mall.
In 2016, the current Penang state government has announced that the coastline of Gurney Drive will be reclaimed to create a new waterfront park known as Gurney Wharf. The project, which is to be undertaken by Eastern & Oriental Berhad, aims to build a world-class waterfront public recreational area and will consist of four distinct reclaimed seaside areas from seaside retails to a beach with a landscape garden. Land reclamation of Gurney Wharf was commence in March 2016, a proposed public recreational park that will include a food and beverages area, a man-made beach and water gardens. The first phase of the project is slated for completion by Q4 of 2024.
It is a nice place with overwhelming offerings from business to leisure, from residential to good mixtures of commercial and retails which provide a good living experience.
